Patient's Condition

The patient started experiencing chronic lower back pain after slipping down the stairs 14 years ago. As a dentist, his work requires maintaining postures involving bending and twisting, so back pain started influencing his ability to perform his job. Recently, he started experiencing numbness in both legs, and upon visiting a local hospital, he was diagnosed with disc herniation. After consulting with Dr. Pauza from the United States regarding Discseel Procedure (DST), he learned that treatment was also available in Japan and decided to visit our clinic.

The MRI examination of the lower back revealed a reduced disc space, accompanied by deformities between the third L3 and fourth L4 lumbar vertebrae known as disc herniation.

Discseel Procedure (DST)

Discseel Procedure (DST) was performed on four damaged intervertebral disc levels (L2/L3, L3/L4, L4/L5, L5/S1) aiming to alleviate inflammation, in order to reduce lower back pain and nerve damage.

With the assistance of an interpreter, we administered local anesthesia while providing explanations. As the patient required to observe the treatment process, sedatives were not used.

The treatment needle reached the disc without any issues.

We are explaining the disc examination process to the patient. Vice Director Ishida is providing explanations in English.

Here is the video of the disc examination with contrast agent. After identifying the damaged area, we proceeded with Discseel Procedure (DST). The treatment duration was 16 minutes. There is no difference how the treatment is performed on Indian or Japanese patients.

A Message from the Clinic`s Director

Although we have few patients visiting from India, we receive inquiries from patients in the Middle East quite often. While disc treatments are available in Europe and North America, our clinic stands out for having a significantly higher number of cases and lower costs compared to overseas facilities (partly influenced by the weakened yen). Our treatment outcomes are also favorable in comparison, and the ability to offer remote consultations is another distinctive feature. The patient from India mentioned that he will be going on a sightseeing trip to Kyoto today, and I couldn't help but feel envious.
