Condition & Symptoms

Current Status

The patient underwent treatment at our clinic two years ago and visited us today for a follow-up observation after recently relocating to Japan. At the time of treatment, he was in his teens and had developed a herniated disc after exercising. Because his lower back pain, right leg pain, and difficulty walking caused by neuropathic pain showed no improvement, he underwent the Discseel® Procedure for his hernia.

Pre-Treatment MRI

Following the treatment, his symptoms have almost entirely resolved. His VAS scores for lower back pain, leg pain, leg neuropathic pain, and buttock pain have all significantly improved.

Post-Treatment MRI

MRI Scan (Sagittal/Side View)

Post-treatment MRI (Sagittal View)

The MRI shows that the herniated portion has been completely reabsorbed, and the disc volume is well-maintained.

Follow-Up Observation

The patient mentioned experiencing mild discomfort in his buttocks during prolonged sitting or walking. To address this, we recommended the following plan:
1. Weight loss (reducing from 95 kg to 90 kg)
2. Rehabilitation interventions to address his flat back (straight back syndrome)
3. Guidance on proper pelvic posture to prevent exacerbation from prolonged sitting
4. Extra-discal treatment for nerve root symptoms

A Word from the Vice Clinic Director

We believe that the Discseel® Procedure has effectively promoted the reabsorption of the hernia and prevented further degeneration of the intervertebral disc. The patient's progress is excellent, and I am very pleased with these results. However, given how young he still is and considering his long life ahead, it is important to support him in maintaining the best possible condition. Moving forward, we have decided to assist him through targeted rehabilitation. Since patients who recover well rarely need to return to the hospital, it is incredibly rewarding to receive such a positive update like this!
