【Discseel Procedure (DST)】Treatment case of a 70-year-old patient having trouble in her daily life due to pain while walking

Patient's Condition

The patient had been aware of lower back pain for some time, but in recent years, the condition worsened, and started to feel pain while moving. She had previously been diagnosed with spinal canal stenosis at a nearby orthopedic clinic and was under observation for some time but did not experience any improvement. Therefore, she sought consultation at our clinic.

Examination & Test Results

An MRI examination of the lower back revealed that the intervertebral discs from the second lumbar vertebra to the first sacrum were nearly collapsed and deformed. Furthermore, the passage of nerves was narrowing, leading to a diagnosis of spinal canal stenosis.

Treatment Details

Discseel Procedure (DST)

The aim of the treatment was to improve the disc function and inflammation around the intervertebral discs in order to alleviate lower back pain. The Discseel Procedure (DST) was performed on four intervertebral discs (L2/L3, L3/L4, L4/L5, L5/S1).

Since the patient came alone, we started the treatment without using sedatives to allow her to observe the process, so only local anesthesia was administered.

Due to the deformation of the lumbar spine, an NST needle was used, which has a higher hardness, and the flexion angle is also set to be stronger.

This is the video of the examination process. The damaged areas were clearly identified and treated. The entire procedure took 19 minutes. The patient returned home to Chiba Prefecture an hour later.
