Conditions and Symptoms

Patient's Condition

In February of this year, the patient experienced severe hip joint pain to the point of being unable to stand. Although the pain was alleviated with medication, activities that put a strain on the lower back or walking caused pain, resulting in the inability to exercise. As a result, the patient sought treatment at our clinic.

Examination and Test Results

An MRI examination of the lower back revealed multiple collapsed intervertebral discs with accompanying deformities. Such conditions are referred to as degenerative disc disease and intervertebral disc herniation. In addition, there were multiple areas of leg nerve compression, which is diagnosed as spinal canal stenosis.

Discseel Procedure

Upon examination of the intervertebral discs, damage was observed in three locations (L3/L4, L4/L5, L5/S1), and as a result, Discseel Procedure was performed.

Partial anesthesia was applied to the patient's back. Sedatives were not requested, and the anesthesia was administered with a very thin needle, causing minimal discomfort.

Local anesthesia was also used when inserting the treatment tube, which resulted in minimal pain sensation.

The locations of the disc damage were pointed out and explained to the patient. Since there was no pain, the patient was able to calmly listen to the explanation.

A Message from the Clinic`s Director

Many of our patients come from outside the Kansai region, but as I was born and raised in Kansai, at times the local Kansai dialect pops out during our conversations. Today, while explaining the procedure to a patient from the Kanto region, I unintentionally spoke in Kansai dialect, causing some inconvenience, because the change intonation can make the explanation harder to understand. I was relieved to see that the patient laughed it off and forgive me. I feel like I will never be able to fix this habit, no matter how cautious I am. LOL!
