Conditions and Symptoms

Patient's Condition

Around September of last year, the patient started experiencing lower back pain and sciatica after working with a shovel in the field for several days. The symptoms worsened during activities involving bending at the waist. The patient spent some time under observation while undergoing rehabilitation a nearby orthopedic clinic, but as there was no improvement, he sought treatment at our clinic.

The patient’s MRI scan test of the lumbar spine revealed deformities in multiple intervertebral discs from the second lumbar vertebra L/2 to the sacral bone S1. Reduction in disc thickness of approximately 50% was observed at several disc levels. The passage of the leg nerves was also narrowed, leading to a diagnosis of spinal stenosis.

Discseel Procedure (DST)

Since inflammation around the intervertebral discs can cause lower back pain and sciatica, the patient underwent contrast dye test and Discseel Procedure (DST) at four disc levels (L2/L3, L3/L4, L4/L5, L5/S1).

The patient has just entered the treatment room. He has been laid face down, and preparations for the treatment have started.

The needle has been inserted into the intervertebral disc. The patient has been sedated and felt no pain.

After the dye test, the damaged area of the intervertebral disc, that appears dark on the screen, was examined, and treated with Discseel Procedure (DST). The treatment lasted for 19 minutes, and the patient woke up a few minutes after it was over.

A Message from the Clinic`s Director

I update my blog every day, and today, I received advice from an outpatient in the afternoon, saying, "It would be nice if you write something interesting." I thought, "Indeed." After practicing outpatient treatments for over ten years, I feel that my own medical approach has already been completed, leaving little room for new discoveries or creativity. I also realized that it might be challenging to find something intriguing. However, I have been checking overseas findings and data on new treatment methods, so I believe in the future, I will be able to provide some facts that you may find interesting.
