Conditions and Symptoms

Patient's Condition

The patient had received Discseel Procedure (DST) for sciatica in his right leg three years ago. After the treatment, his symptoms improved, and he enjoyed playing golf to intensively. However, in February of this year, he repeatedly engaged in rigorous exercise at a training gym, which caused the recurrence of lower back pain. Furthermore, in April, he participated in numerous golf competitions and developed sciatica in his left leg. As a result, he sought treatment at our clinic.

This is the result of the MRI examination of the lower back. The intervertebral discs between the third lumbar vertebra L3 and the sacrum S1 is thin and deformed. The leg nerves are slightly compressed, indicating a condition known as spinal stenosis.

Discseel Procedure (DST)

We conducted a reexamination of the previously treated intervertebral discs and performed Discseel Procedure (DST) at three disc levels (L3/L4, L4/L5, L5/S1).

The patient is asleep after being sedated. Family members are observing the procedure behind the glass from the adjacent room.

This is the interior of the treatment room, with the patient lying face down. The patient will remain in this position for about ten minutes.

I am placing the needle into the intervertebral disc. It took a little while, but it was successfully inserted without touching the nerves.

This is the moment of examining one of the intervertebral discs. We identified new damaged areas and performed the Discseel Procedure (DST) again. The whole treatment lasted for 18 minutes.

A Message from the Clinic`s Director

Even if symptoms improve after intervertebral disc treatment, excessive exercise and obesity can lead to impairments in areas different than the treated ones. This tendency is often seen in male golfers, especially those who are fully focused and dedicated to practicing the game. Although it is possible to undergo treatment again, in case of recurrence, but we always try to explain the importance of enjoying sports moderately to prevent further getting hurt again. We understand the desire to engage in sports to the full extent after symptoms improve, but we have to remind you that you need to be careful.
