Patient's Condition
Since the end of last year, the patient has been experiencing lower back pain, which gradually developed into sciatica, making it impossible for her to engage in physical activity. She contacted our clinic upon the referral of a patient of ours from Jakarta who had, and after a remote consultation, she decided to visit Japan to undergo our treatment. We have staff fluent in English, Chinese and Russian etc., so we can provide treatment with the assistance of an interpreter.
The MRI examination of the lower back revealed deformation and collapse of the intervertebral discs from the second lumbar vertebra L2 to the sacrum S1. This condition is referred to as intervertebral disc herniation and degenerative disc disease. The persistent inflammation around the intervertebral disc causes chronic lower back pain and neurological symptoms. A partial compression of the leg nerves is the reason for the diagnosis of spinal stenosis.

DST Method (Discseel™ treatment)
After examinations were conducted, Discseel Procedure (DST) was performed on four disc levels (L2/L3, L3/L4, L4/L5, L5/S1).
This is a view of the operating room from the observation room. An interpreter is present beside the patient, providing explanations about the treatment.
This is the interior of the treatment room, with the patient lying face down. The patient will remain in this position for about ten minutes.
This is the final check before treatment. The current state of the patient's lower back is confirmed, and the approach for treatment is determined.
Local anesthesia is used to place the needle for treatment in the intervertebral disc. The interpreter is explaining the procedure to the patient.
This is a video showing the examination of the intervertebral disc. Treatment was performed after the examination. The treatment lasted for 18 minutes. With the presence of an interpreter, I believe the patient was calm and relaxed during the procedure.
A Message from the Clinic`s Director
Due to the increase in staff in the operating room and constantly rising temperatures, we cannot avoid sweating during surgery. We wear multiple sterilized gowns, which makes it worse. I have recently lost some weight, and dehydration has caused loss of appetite, resulting in further weight loss. Today, a patient in her 40s, who had received treatment from us five years ago came back for a regular check-up told me that her lower back pain has improved to the extent that she can play badminton. She also mentioned that I looked like I have lost quite some weight compared to five years ago. Her comment made me realize that I need to gain some weight for better health.
