Patient's Condition
The patient has been experiencing back pain for about 2 years, and gradually, and gradually developed sciatica, which she started experiencing when walking. Recently, she has been receiving nerve block injections, etc., but there has been no improvement, and she began considering surgery. However, due to the risks associated with surgery, she opted to visit our hospital for consultation.
Examination & Test Results
The MRI examination of her lumbar spine revealed collapsed intervertebral discs throughout the entire lumbar region, with the disc height reduced to below 50%. Additionally, the leg nerves were compressed, leading to inflammation and a diagnosis of spinal canal stenosis.
Treatment Details
Discseel Procedure (DST)
We examined the intervertebral discs and performed Discseel Procedure (DST) on five damaged disc levels (L1/L2, L2/L3, L3/L4, L4/L5, L5/S1).
As the patient preferred not to feel any pain during the treatment, we used a sedative and she underwent the procedure while sleeping.
Due to severe bone deformities and narrow gaps between the intervertebral discs, a needle with a high degree of hardness was used, which made Performing the treatment slightly more challenging.
This photo shows the examination of the intervertebral discs before the treatment.
The damaged areas of the intervertebral discs are visible in black. The treatment followed immediately after the contrast examination. The procedure lasted for 19 minutes. As the patient has no memory of the treatment, we explained the treatment using the video afterwards.
A Message from the Clinic`s Director
A friend's brother passed away from peritoneal mesothelioma. He was a physician in his 40s and had two children, but he was diagnosed only a few months before he passed away. If he had taken regular check-ups such as health screenings, there might have been a chance for treatment, and even in the worst case, he could have prepared for it in various ways. Our bodies are our assets, and we have the responsibility to maintain our health. I, too, want to take good of my health.
