Patient Information

Male, in his 50s

Condition and Symptoms

Patient Background

The patient’s great-grandfather underwent PLDD (Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression) treatment at Seiran Hospital 12 years ago, performed by me. Six years ago, the patient’s grandfather also received Discseel treatment from me, and since then, I have been treating two generations of the family. The great-grandfather has passed away, but the grandfather is still enjoying golf. The current patient has been experiencing sciatic nerve pain since July this year, which has affected his work, prompting him to seek early treatment and visit our clinic.

Examination

An MRI examination revealed that several spinal discs were damaged and the leg nerve was being compressed, leading to a diagnosis of spinal canal stenosis. Genetic factors were also reported as a cause.

Type of Treatment

Discseel (Discseel® Procedure)

Both the Discseel and DRT methods were suitable for this patient, but he chose Discseel because it had been used on his grandfather.

Treatment Process ①

Six years ago, we didn’t use sedatives at the clinic, and his grandfather only received local anesthesia. I explained to the patient that sedatives can help reduce pain and anxiety, and he ultimately decided to use them.

Treatment Process ②

The treatment catheter was inserted into four points in the disc.

Here, we are performing the Discseel treatment.

X-ray Before and After Treatment

X-ray images before and after treatment. The left side is before treatment and the right side is after. The treatment took approximately 18 minutes.

Message from the Director

It is common to treat patients across generations, but this is the first time I have treated three generations from the same family. Lower back disorders have genetic factors similar to cancer. For families with a history of this condition, it is important to maintain spinal health to prevent the onset of symptoms.

Next month, I will participate in a medical exhibition in Jakarta. The Osaka clinic will be closed from October 17 to 19. I’m also scheduled to meet with patients from Indonesia who have received treatment here and will provide you with an update.
