Patient's Condition
The patient had been experiencing recurring episodes of acute lower back pain since his teens, and recently the frequency of these episodes had increased, interfering with his daily life. He had tried not only hospitals but also chiropractic and acupuncture, but his condition did not improve, and he did not know the cause, so he visited our clinic.
Examination

This is an MRI image of his lower back. At first glance, it may seem normal, but changes can be seen in the intervertebral discs between the 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae and the 1st sacral vertebra. According to the Pfirrmann classification, it would be Grade III.
Treatment Details
Discseel Procedure
Damage to the intervertebral disc is a cause of acute lower back pain and often worsens with age, so we recommended disc treatment. We explained that if the intradiscal pressure is high, decompression treatment (PLDD method) would be used, but if the intradiscal pressure is low, repair treatment (such as Discseel Procedure) would be necessary.
In the discography, dark areas were visible, and a decrease in intradiscal pressure was also confirmed. We selected the Discseel Procedure as the treatment method.

These are X-ray photos before and after treatment. The left side is before treatment, and the right side is after treatment.
Summary
Treatment methods for intervertebral discs are broadly divided into decompression treatment and repair treatment. Because the treatment objectives differ, it is essential to always perform an examination before selecting a treatment method.
A Word from the Director
By the way, our Hanshin Tigers are on a 4-game winning streak. Today, we play against our favorite opponent, the Giants. I'm sure it will be our 5th consecutive win. Hehehe.
