Patient Information
A male patient in his 70s
Diseases and Symptoms
During Treatment
In June 2018, the patient experienced sciatic nerve pain due to a herniated disc and spinal canal stenosis, which prevented him from playing golf. He underwent Discseel Procedure at our clinic. The photo below shows an image taken during treatment on four discs.

Progress After Treatment
Two months after treatment, the patient's sciatic nerve pain improved, and he was able to resume playing golf. However, in April 2024, he experienced a back pain attack after sitting cross-legged during a memorial ceremony. During today’s consultation, his back pain had improved, but he came in for reassurance about his back condition.

The photo on the left is an MRI image from June 2018, while the photo on the right is an MRI taken today (July 2024). No worsening is visible, and no bone damage was found.
Examination Results
Since the sciatic nerve pain has disappeared and the back pain has improved, it was diagnosed that the pain experienced was due to a sprained spinal joint or a myofascial lower back pain flare-up. The cross-legged position put significant pressure on the back, so we recommended that the patient use a chair for sitting. Activities like golf can still be done, but we advised the patient to avoid excessive activity and enjoy sports in moderation.
Clinic Director's Comments
Although it has been six years since the treatment, it is not possible for the patient's body condition to fully recover as it was in his 20s because the back is a part of the body that is continuously used. Even after symptoms subside, excessive strain can cause a relapse, so it is important to enjoy everything in moderation (e.g., golfing up to twice a month).
This is more commonly seen in male patients.
This is Dr. Ishida’s golf swing. Although his condition improved after undergoing DRT treatment last year, unfortunately, his ability to play golf did not improve... haha
