Patient Condition

The patient has been experiencing sciatic nerve pain for several years and has tried rehabilitation therapy, but with no improvement. In China, surgical procedures require spinal fusion, so the patient became interested in treatment at our clinic after reading reviews in a Chinese back pain group (SNS) and traveled to Japan for this treatment.

Examination Results and Diagnosis

The MRI image of the lower back shows two discs between the 4th lumbar and 1st sacral vertebrae that appear dark, with slight deformation visible. The volume of the discs is also reduced, and the patient was diagnosed with disc degeneration and herniated disc.

Treatment Procedure

Discseel® Procedure

An annulogram examination revealed damage to the discs, so we performed Discseel. In the United States, this procedure is covered by state insurance for military members.

The patient wanted to directly view the examination results, so we did not use sedatives. We inserted a treatment catheter (NST needle) into the two problematic discs.

To ensure the patient could see the annulogram results, we moved the monitor screen toward the patient.

The damaged part appears dark. The disc is cracked, which will be repaired with Discseel.

Yesterday morning, I caught insects at Yamato Minzoku Park near our home for the children's research project, and "it was very hot." The park is large, but it was almost empty, which was quite surprising.

In the park, there is an exhibit called "Life During the War" that showcases the atmosphere of the early Showa era, and it’s free.

In the afternoon, I went to Koshien to support our Hanshin Tigers team. The temperature and the enthusiasm of the people made it feel over 40 degrees. Haha

Thanks to our patience, the Hanshin Tigers won three consecutive games against the Chunichi Dragons. We’re really looking forward to the next game against the Giants.
