Patient Information

Female in her 60s

Condition/Symptoms

Patient's Condition

The patient visited the clinic in May 2022 unable to walk due to sciatica caused by spinal canal stenosis, and underwent Discseel Procedure that day. She has now improved to a state where she can walk over 10,000 steps, and traveled to Taiwan in August of this year. However, after the trip, she started to feel a stretching or pulling discomfort in her right buttock, leading to today's follow-up consultation.

Post-Treatment Course

VAS Score (Pain Scale)

May 2022 November 2025
Low Back Pain 5 points 0 points
Lower Limb Pain 10 points 0 points
Numbness 5 points 0 points
Buttock Pain 10 points 0 points
→ 4 points in August of this year

(Patients evaluate their pain on a 10-point scale, where 0 points means no pain)

MRI Scan

MRI: Pre-treatment

Pre-treatment MRI scan from 2 years and 6 months ago.

MRI: Today

Today's MRI scan. Improvements such as disc degeneration can be seen. However, subcutaneous fat and visceral fat are significantly more prominent than before treatment.

Consultation Results

No neurological disorders of the lower limbs were observed. She reported a dull, tight pain in the right buttock after walking for more than 10 minutes. The MRI scan showed no problems at the Discseel Procedure site, but significant obesity was confirmed. Based on this, it was explained that the currently appearing dull pain is mild, and it is highly likely to improve with weight reduction.

Summary

Even if disc herniation or spinal canal stenosis are properly treated, symptoms can recur if continuous strain is placed on the back, such as during international travel. It was explained that, similar to treating a cavity, maintenance is necessary even after treatment.

I want to go abroad for fun, too.

A Word from the Director

Are you plotting something?

My eldest daughter has suddenly become excessively kind over the past few days. Previously, if I just sat in front of her at the dining table at home, I'd be insulted with things like, "Gross..." "Smelly..." "Dirty..." But in the last few days, she's been saying things like, "Dad, do you need soy sauce?" "I'm setting out your tea, Daddy ♡." She must definitely be plotting something, that one. I suspect her preparations for Christmas have begun. Girls are truly scary. Even when you know, you still end up being fooled. Is it like getting completely reeled in at a high-end club in Ginza? Not that I go...
