Conditions & Symptoms
The patient was having lower back pain for 17 years, and it has gradually worsened over time. He has been taking more and more days off from work and walking has become burdensome due to sciatica. The patient came to our clinic because he could not get any improvement with medication and rehabilitation.
Examination & Test Results
The MRI scan of the lower back showed collapsed and deformed discs from the third lumbar vertebra L/3 to the sacrum L/1. The diagnose was Disc Degeneration and Disc Herniation. In addition, there was a high possibility of Spinal Canal Stenosis as the leg nerves were also compressed and accompanied by inflammation.
Discseel Procedure (DST)
We treated the damaged intervertebral discs at 3 levels (L3/L4, L4/L5, L5/S1) to improve the symptoms of sciatica.
To allow the patient to observe the treatment process it was performed under local anesthesia and no sedatives were used.
For this treatment, we used NST needles as the treatment tool. These kind of needles have high tracking ability even in cases of severe deformation of the lumbar vertebrae.
On the photo we are explaining the condition of the intervertebral discs to the patient.
This video shows the examination of the intervertebral disc. After this, Discseel Procedure (DST). The treatment took about 20 minutes to complete.
A Word from the Clinic's Director
For about a year now, the supply of various medicines has become unstable, making it difficult to obtain necessary drugs, which seems to be related to the weakening of the yen since the COVID-19 pandemic, increased transportation costs, and the war in Ukraine that affected the shortage of raw materials. It is something that was unthinkable before COVID-19, but drug shortages are becoming a daily occurrence. At our clinic, we are currently able to stably secure the drugs necessary for treatment, but we are considering expanding the circle of wholesale manufacturers we are dealing with in the near future.
