Patient's Status
About 14 years ago, the patient started experiencing lower back pain and sciatica in her left leg. She underwent surgical treatment in China, but her condition did not improve. For the past 3 years, her neuralgia kept worsening. The person who accompanied the patient was a relative who works as an internist. He was treated at our clinic too about 4 years ago, and his symptoms improved.
Examination & Test Results
The MRI examination of the lumbar region revealed damage to the intervertebral discs between the third, fourth, and fifth lumbar vertebrae. A disc herniation on the left side that affected the nerve root was also observed.
Treatment Details
Discseel Procedure
The treatment focused on addressing the damage to the intervertebral discs at two locations (L3/L4 and L4/L5) aiming to improve the symptoms of sciatica.
As the patient spoke only Chinese, we conducted the conversation with the help of an interpreter. The patient did not experience any pain even only with local anesthesia.
We used a soft S-shaped hook-type needle for the treatment.
On the photo we are examining the intervertebral discs while allowing the patient to observe the treatment.
The damaged area of the intervertebral discs appears black on the screen. The treatment took approximately 18 minutes.
Words from the Director
Our hospital is located just a few minutes' walk from Shin-Osaka Station, and the Yodo River, the largest river that flows through Osaka. On August 5th (Saturday), the Yodo River Fireworks Festival, the largest fireworks event in Osaka, will be held. Since we anticipate a large crowd, we will be closed on the afternoon of August 5th. We hope that our staff can participate in the event while taking measures to prevent COVID-19 infection.
