Patient Information

Male, 60s

Condition/Symptoms

Status

The patient has been suffering from lower back pain and sciatica for over 10 years. In July 2024, the DRT Method (Disc Regeneration Therapy) was performed. Within approximately 1 month, the lower back pain and sciatica improved by about 60%, but since symptoms remained, the patient began a lower back pain rehabilitation program in March of this year and came in for a check-up today.

VAS Score (Pain Scale)

Lower back pain 9 points 4 points 1 point
Leg pain 8 points 5 points 0 points
Numbness 6 points 0 points 0 points
Buttock pain 8 points 5 points 0 points

(Patient was asked to rate pain on a scale of 0-10, where 0 means no pain)

Summary

When lower back pain lasts for more than 10 years, activity often decreases due to the pain, which leads to a reduction in muscle strength and flexibility. In this case, with the DRT Method (Disc Regeneration Therapy) alone, improvement was only about 60%. However, by adding a lower back pain rehabilitation program to address the loss of muscle strength and flexibility, the final result showed an improvement of more than 90%. This rehabilitation program is designed to be performed at home, so even patients from abroad can follow it.

Rehabilitation

Conclusion

If the patient had undergone lower back pain rehabilitation from the very beginning of the symptoms 10 years ago, perhaps DRT (Disc Regeneration Therapy) would not have been necessary. Conversely, if DRT therapy had been performed immediately after the onset of sciatica, perhaps lower back pain rehabilitation would not have been necessary. Enduring lower back pain and sciatica for 10 years is a “loss of life”.

A Word from the Clinic Director

Lower Back Pain vs. Depression

There is strong scientific evidence that a link exists between lower back pain and depression, and this has also become a consensus at academic meetings. In the United States, the suicide rate due to depression is very high among military patients with lower back pain. However, after the Discseel Procedure was performed for lower back pain, symptoms improved, and it was shown to reduce the suicide rate. For this reason, the Discseel Procedure became the first regenerative therapy covered by national insurance there.

Depression

I also frequently encounter lower back pain patients who suffer from depression. However, after their lower back pain is treated, their depressive symptoms often improve as well. Whether it's depression, lower back pain, or sciatica, I am always determined to find a solution and continue to strive every day.
