From Indonesia, A Female Patient in Her 40s Came to Japan for Lower Back Pain Treatment

Patient Condition

This patient has been experiencing nerve pain in her left leg for the past 7 years and was diagnosed with lumbar spondylolisthesis. She did not want to undergo surgery and decided to wait. After hearing that her friend successfully received treatment at our clinic, she contacted us in May, sent MRI images, and consulted before coming to Japan for treatment today.

Examination Results and Diagnosis

After a discography examination, several cracks were found in the discs, so Discseel treatment was performed. If the discography results show no cracks in the discs, PLDD would be the appropriate choice. However, in conditions where the lumbar vertebrae have shifted, cracks are generally found in most of the discs.

A discussion was held with Dr. Ishida before the treatment. The purpose of this discussion was to ensure there was no error in selecting the treatment method based on the X-ray and MRI results.

The treatment was carried out with the help of a translator. The patient was in a sedated state due to the use of a tranquilizer, while her family observed the treatment process from the next room.

As expected, cracks were found in the disc between the 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae. If no cracks were found, PLDD could be used, but if cracks were found, then Discseel or DRT would be the appropriate treatment choice.

The treatment lasted for 16 minutes, but for the patient under sedation, it feels like a moment. To my knowledge, we are the only clinic in Japan that uses sedatives for outpatient back pain treatments. Apologies if I am mistaken.

There are several methods used for outpatient back pain treatment. My personal experience with back pain treatment, starting with PLDD at Seiran Hospital in Nara Prefecture, spans more than 10 years. I believe that the results of one-day back pain treatments are related to experience in the treatment.
